Kindle unlimited is a subscription based service that allows to lend books from a variety of authors which are enrolled in the Kindle unlimted program.

You can lend up 20 books at any one time and once your are finished, you return the book and select another. You do not own the book but can re-lend the same book multiple times assuming it remains on KU.

As you don't purchase a book outright authors are paid by the number of pages that you read. A little side not here, to help you support your favourite artists, if you read a book more than once, the pages only count the first time you read it. So if you want to re-read a book or series, have a look for boxset/omnibus editions as these will allow the pages to be counted again.
